JR Smith learning New York Knicks triangle offense

New York Knicks star JR Smith concedes that it may take "a few months" for the team to get used to the new system under coach Derek Fisher.

New York Knicks star JR Smith has conceded that it may take a while for the team to adjust and become familiar with the triangle offense.

The Knicks suffered a 106-86 loss to the Boston Celtics in their first pre-season game on Wednesday, and Smith believes that there is plenty of room for improvement.

"It's going to take a few months," Smith said, as reported by ESPN.

"Over the course of the year, understanding where everybody is going to be, [understanding that] 'some like it here, [some] like it like that.' It's going to take a while."

Both coach Derek Fisher and team president Phil Jackson have shared Smith's opinion and the pair believe that it will take time before the players are comfortable with the new system.
