Sam Mitchell joins Minnesota Timberwolves as an assistant coach

Former Minnesota Timberwolves player Sam Mitchell joins the team's coaching staff, as Flip Saunders continues to reshape his back-room staff.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced the signing of Sam Mitchell as an assistant coach.

Mitchell will now join the back-room staff at Minnesota, which has undergone a reshaping process under Flip Saunders.

Minnesota's new assistant played for the Timberwolves in 10 seasons, having appeared under Saunders for seven years during his first stint as coach.

Mitchell will work alongside Sidney Lowe, with coach Saunders expected to name his son Ryan as part of his sideline staff too.
