The Miami Heat have confirmed the acquisition of guard Goran Dragic from the Phoenix Suns.
Dragic was repeatedly linked with a trade away from Phoenix after informing the team that he would not re-sign with them when he becomes a free agent in the summer, and the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers were also rumoured to be interested in his services.
However, the Heat won the battle for his signature by offering Danny Granger, Shawne Williams, Justin Hamilton and two first-round picks to the Suns.
Williams and Hamilton were eventually moved to the New Orleans Pelicans as part of the deal, and Heat point guard Norris Cole has also been acquired by the Pelicans, while John Salmons has left for Phoenix.
After the move was confirmed, Dragic said on his Twitter account: "Although my recent words came out harsher than I'd intended, I did feel it was time to find a better fit for me as a [basketball] player who only wants to be the best and help my team in every way."
Miami heat also recruited Dragic's brother Zoran as part of the trade.
