Steve Ballmer new Los Angeles Clippers owner

Steve Ballmer completes his takeover of the Los Angeles Clippers, although Donald Sterling is expected to appeal the sale.

The Los Angeles Clippers have officially announced that former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is the new owner of the franchise after agreeing a purchase with Shelly Sterling.

Ballmer made his initial bid on May 29 but he wasn't able to complete the deal until he received a written court order to push the sale through.

"I look forward to supporting the community, the fanbase, the staff, Doc [Rivers] and the players to take this thing to higher heights," Ballmer said, ESPN reports.

Ballmer's takeover ends the controversy surrounding the franchise after Donald Sterling fought against the sale after being banned by the NBA, although he is still expected to appeal.
