NBA roundup: Los Angeles Clippers bounce back

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from the New Year's Day fixtures in the NBA.

The Los Angeles Clippers recovered from their heaviest defeat of the season to thrash the Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA.

Blake Griffin and Jared Dudley helped the home side pull away in the second half, opening up a 27-point lead to put their 107-88 loss to the Phoenix Suns earlier this week behind them.

A late run by the Dallas Mavericks rescued a win against the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center.

Dirk Nowitzki, who is the 13th leading point scorer in NBA history, was restricted to a season-low nine points, and missed 11 of his 14 shots, but a second-half flurry from Monta Ellis helped the visitors come from behind after the break.

The Toronto Raptors caused an upset against the in-form Indiana Pacers, sealing a win with a strong second-half performance.

DeMar DeRozan led the scoring, adding 26 points to extend the Canadian side's winning run to four games, while ending a five-game unbeaten stretch for the visitors.

The Philadelphia 76ers made it back-to-back wins away from home with victory over the Denver Nuggets.

Evan Turner led the team with 23 points, as Philadelphia outscored their hosts 44-26 in the second quarter to set up the win.

The Minnesota Timberwolves clinched a comfortable win over the New Orleans Pelicans after getting off to a quick start.

Nikola Pekovic proved too much for power forward Ryan Anderson to cover, scoring 22 points to help the Timberwolves lead by up to 30 points, before the Pelicans reduced the gap late on against the Minnesota replacements.

Results in full: Dallas Mavericks 87-78 Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers 82-95 Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Pelicans 112-124 Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 114-102 Denver Nuggets, Charlotte 85-112 Los Angeles Clippers
