Agent: 'Tristan Thompson may leave Cleveland Cavaliers'

The agent of Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson reveals that the player could leave the club if he is not handed a long-term contract.

Tristan Thompson will leave the Cleveland Cavaliers if he is not handed a lucrative long-term deal, according to the player's agent.

The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his contract with David Blatt's men, and has reportedly demanded a deal worth $94m (£60.3m) over five years.

However, the Cavaliers are reluctant to meet his stipulations, which could lead Thompson to play out the 2015-16 campaign on a one-year qualifying offer worth $6.8m (£4.3m).

"If [Thompson] is on the qualifying offer, [this] will be his last year with the Cavs," agent Rich Paul told reporters.

Thompson averaged 8.5 points per game for the Cavaliers last season.
