Derrick Rose surprised by reaction to comments

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose insists that he will just continue to be himself amid criticism of his recent comments.

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has revealed that he was surprised and slightly bothered by the reaction his recent comments about his future received.

Rose admitted earlier this week that he was thinking about life after basketball and that he would miss games this season if he wasn't 100% healthy.

"Really, I was just being myself," Rose told reporters.

"As long as I'm being myself that's the only person I can be and that's about it. But as far as saying anything, blame me for thinking about the future, I'll probably think different, but that's all I was doing."

The 26-year-old came into this season having played just 10 games in the previous two years due to back-to-back serious knee injuries.

However, he added that he understood that he would be in the spotlight but insisted that he would continue to be himself despite the criticism.
