Greg Rutherford fails to make the long jump final at the World Athletics Championships.

Greg Rutherford has failed to make the long jump final at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow.

The 26-year-old had been struggling to get himself fit for the event after suffering a hamstring injury during the summer.

However, the Olympic champion could only manage a best attempt of 7.81m from his first two jumps to leave him requiring a leap of 8.10m with his final effort.

But Rutherford could only improve to 7.87m, ensuring that he missed out on making the final and attempting to add to his gold medal from London 2012.
