Daley Thompson has suggested that British heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson is "learning some great lessons" by competing with the best at the World Athletics Championships.
The Liverpudlian trails fellow Briton Jessica Ennis-Hill after the first two events in Beijing, but looked to be struggling with her run-up in the high jump, where she cleared 1.89m.
However, former double Olympic champion Thompson is adamant that the 22-year-old's early experiences in this event will stand her in good stead for the future.
"It didn't seem to be flowing for Katarina Johnson-Thompson out there," he told BBC Sport.
"She's learning some great lessons here, because even if you're much better than everybody else, you still have to perform."
Johnson-Thompson won gold in pentathlon at the European Indoor Championships in Prague earlier this year.
