Justin Gatlin targets Usain Bolt's Olympic titles in 2016

Justin Gatlin warns Usain Bolt that he will avenge his 100m and 200m World Athletics Championships defeats by snatching the Jamaican's Olympic titles in 2016.

Justin Gatlin has told sprinting rival Usain Bolt that he won the battle in Beijing, not the war, as he now plots to take the Jamaican's Olympic titles in Rio next summer.

Bolt edged out the American to clinch gold in Thursday's 200m final at the World Athletics Championships, having also pipped him to a 100m triumph on Sunday.

At 33, Gatlin was the oldest runner in the field yesterday, but he has now turned his attention to 2016 and hopes to avenge these defeats by stripping the 29-year-old of his Olympic crowns.

"I think a lot of people just wanted to see a great race," Gatlin, who was previously banned for doping, told reporters.

"I'm the oldest man in the field and still running, running pretty well.

"It feels good to go against him. I'm just going to prepare myself for next year, for the Olympics, and come out even stronger."

Bolt now has 10 world and six Olympic titles under his belt.
