Jessica Ennis-Hill has put herself in a strong position to clinch the gold medal in the heptathlon at the World Athletics Championships, with just one event remaining.
The 29-year-old entered the javelin stage with a lead of 102 points over Canada's Brianne Theisen-Eaton in second place, and managed to put in a solid performance with a throw of 42.51m to take a 86-point lead into the final event.
Netherlands' Nadine Broersen will need to beat Ennis-Hill by six seconds in the 800m to deny the Briton the gold medal and her first World Championship title since 2009.
The 800m takes place in Beijing later today.
