Anyika Onuora: 'I'm a proper quarter-miler'

Great Britain's Anyika Onuora believes that she is a "proper quarter-miler" after recording back-to-back personal bests at the World Athletics Championships.

Great Britain's Anyika Onuora has suggested that her future lies in the 400m having recorded back-to-back personal bests at the World Athletics Championships.

The 30-year-old, who is better known for running the 200m and 100m distances, qualified for the 400m semi-finals as the fastest loser in Beijing with a time of 51.14s.

However, she shaved almost three-tenths of a second off that time in the semis, although her PB of 50.87s was not enough to book a spot in Thursday's final.

"I gave it everything in that lane. Beijing has been incredible. I ran back-to-back PBs. I guess it makes me a proper quarter-miler. I'm looking forward to the relays - I'm sure we'll do some damage," she told BBC Sport.

Onuora's teammate Christine Ohuruogu did make it into the final, however, qualifying third fastest with a season's best time of 50.16s.
