Adam Gemili moves into semi-finals

British sprinter Adam Gemili finishes second in his heat to progress to the semi-finals of the men's 100.

Great Britain's Adam Gemili advanced through to the semi-finals of the men's 100m at the Olympic Games this afternoon.

The 18-year-old got off to a quick start and led the field with 20m gone.

He maintained his speed, but was eventually overtaken by race winner Asafa Powell.

The Jamaican recorded a time of 10.04s, while Gemili trailed with 10.11s.

Churandy Martina of the Netherlands finished in third spot.
