Team GB add DFS to list of sponsors for Rio 2016 Olympics

Team GB will have the support of new sponsors UK sofa manufacturers DFS at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Team GB have secured a new sponsor in UK sofa manufacturer DFS as they gear up for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The British Olympic Association have revealed that DFS will provide "rest and relaxation" for the athletes as they prepare to represent Great Britain in Rio in two years' time.

BOA chief executive Bill Sweeney said: "DFS is a world-class British company and I am thrilled to welcome them to our Olympic Family. Brazil is uncharted territory for many of our athletes so as our official homeware partner DFS will play a key role.

"Not only will DFS's support help ensure that Team GB athletes enjoy the best possible rest and relaxation away from the training and competition arena, they will also benefit from that homely feel that helped inspire Team GB's success at London 2012."

DFS chief executive Ian Filby added: "At London 2012, Team GB inspired a nation with their commitment, endeavour and excellence. We hope our support can help Team GB reach the same heights at Rio 2016. It's always that little bit harder, that little bit more daunting when you're competing abroad, but together with Team GB we hope we can make Rio 2016 a home away from home."

Great Britain finished third behind the United States and China in the London 2012 medal table, with 29 golds.
