Richard Kilty "happy" with performance in 100m Diamond League final

Great Britain's Richard Kilty is "happier" with his display in the final of the 100m at the Birmingham Grand Prix having set a new PB of 10.05s.

Great Britain's Richard Kilty has declared himself "happy" with his performance in the 100m final at the Diamond League meeting in Birmingham this afternoon.

Kilty qualified for the final as one of the fastest runners-up in the heats, but was angry with the start he made to that race.

However, he responded with a personal-best time of 10.05s to finish fifth, despite admitting that it was strange to have the lanes either side of him empty due to a late withdrawal from Jimmy Vicaut.

"I was a little bit happier there - my start was much better," Kilty told Sports Mole.

"It was a bit awkward being in lane two with no-one either side of me. I felt all alone there, it felt like a training run. But I'm happy with a PB."

Kilty's compatriot Adam Gemili finished second courtesy of his first ever sub-10s 100m performance.
