Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill has praised the strength of the country's female athletes after finishing third in the women's 100m hurdles final at the British Athletics Championships in Birmingham.

The 29-year-old, who returned to competitive action earlier this year after a two-year absence, claimed a place on the podium with a season's best of 13.10 seconds.

Sisters Tiffany Porter and Cindy Ofili, who recently pledged her allegiance to Great Britain, took first and second respectively at the Alexander Stadium.

With the likes of British female stars, including Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Dina Asher-Smith and Asha Philip moving into the limelight, Ennis-Hill has expressed her delight at how women are making the headlines.

"It's brilliant," Ennis-Hill told Sports Mole. "[Even in other sports], I was watching Heather Watson at Wimbledon yesterday and it's great to see British women performing so well and competing at the top of their game."

Ennis-Hill will take part in the javelin final tomorrow afternoon.
