Martyn Rooney became the third British athlete to miss out on qualification for the men's 400m final this evening.
The 25-year-old was in contention for a top two finish coming into the home straight, having run a conservative opening 300m.
However, he appeared to tighten up in the closing stages and fell back down the field, eventually ending up fifth.
Eighteen-year-old Luguelin Santos claimed first place, while Kevin Borlee took second spot.
Brits Nigel Levine and Conrad Williams also suffered a similar fates to their compatriot Rooney earlier today.
