Great Britain's Mo Farah takes gold in the 5,000m final.

Great Britain's Mo Farah has taken gold in the 5,000m final, holding off the favourite Ethiopian athletes in a time of 13:41.66.

Farah timed his race to perfection, working his way through the field before taking the lead with two laps left.

This enabled him to force the pace of the final laps and he left enough in the tank to hold off the surge of Dejen Gebremeskel of Ethiopia, who finished with a time of 13:41.98.

Thomas Longesiwa of Kenya held off Bernard Lagat of the United States to take bronze in 13:42.36.

Farah has now completed the remarkable distance double after claiming the 10,000 metres earlier in the week.
