Jessica Ennis shares 200m victory

Team GB's Jessica Ennis ends day one of the heptathlon by sharing the win in the 200m to give her the lead in the overall standings.

Great Britain's Jessica Ennis ended day one of the heptathlon with a shared victory in the 200m.

The 26-year-old crossed the line at exactly the same time as Dafne Schippers from the Netherlands, both clocking a time of 22.83s.

For gold medal favourite Ennis, that time is a new personal best.

Meanwhile, fellow Brit Katarina Johnson-Thompson finished fifth in the same race. The 19-year-old also ran a personal best, going over the line in 23.73s.

Ennis now leads the overall standings in the heptathlon with three events remaining.
