Team GB sprinter Adam Gemili confesses that he is still surprised by the progress that he has made this year.

British sprinter Adam Gemili has admitted that he is still shocked by the level of his progression this season.

The 18-year-old began the year as a virtual unknown having quit a career in football to take up 100m sprinting.

However, he has since done enough to qualify for the Olympic Games, before going on to reach the semi-finals of his event earlier today.

"To walk into the stadium and get the cheer was unbelieveable for me," he told BBC Sport. "Things are happening quickly this year. I've done things that still shock me but I've worked hard. The results are showing."

Gemili won the World Junior Championships earlier this year.
