British youngster Morgan Lake has failed to qualify for the final of the women's high jump at the European Championships in Zurich.

The 17-year-old made a tearful exit after jumping 1.85m, leaving her joint 17th in the overall standings while Spain's Ruth Beitia, Marie-Laurence Jungfleisch of Germany and Lithuania's Airine Palsyte qualified with jumps of 1.89.

Lake headed into the competition having won two gold medals at the World Junior Championships this year, but failed to repeat her success in Switzerland.
