Oscar Pistorius: "I've proved everybody wrong"

Oscar Pistorius claims that he has proved his doubters wrong after his world record in the 200m heat.

South African sprinter Oscar Pistorius has sent out a message to his doubters that he has "proved" them wrong after setting a world record earlier today.

Pistorius ran a rapid 21.30 world record in the heat and afterwards said those who claimed he could not compete in both the Paralympics and the Olympics were wrong.

"I've run my fastest time and I eased off about 20 metres from the end because I knew I was comfortable and I wanted to conserve energy for the final.

"Everybody was saying, 'how can you peak for both?' I've proved everybody wrong, running a world record. If there were people that doubted my goals then go and look at the clock, it says 21.30."

Pistorius made the 200m final in the Olympics but did not place for a medal.
