Danny Talbot retains financial backing

Sprinter Danny Talbot will continue to receive funding as he prepares for the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

British sprinter Danny Talbot has expressed his delight upon learning that he will receive financial support for the 2015 season.

The experienced Goldie Sayers, who captained Team GB at this summer's European Championships, was recently informed that she had lost her backing, but 23-year-old Talbot will continue to receive the necessary funds as he prepares for the Rio 2016.

"It is a nice confidence boost to still be on funding and know that people have faith in me that I have the potential to get to the Rio Olympics in 2016 and Tokyo after that," Talbot told the Western Daily Press.

"I am very grateful to be included for another year because life would be a lot tougher if I wasn't."

Talbot was a member of Britain's 4x100m team that won gold at the European Championships in Zurich earlier this year.
