Puerto Rico's Javier Culson has booked his place in the final of the 400m hurdles by winning his semi-final.
Widely regarded as favourite for the event, Culson had a good start to the race but was trailing defending champion Angelo Taylor after the first 300m.
Taylor tired on the home straight and Culson was able to close in on his rival to emerge victorious in a time of 47.93 seconds.
Omar Cisneros threatened to overtake Taylor in the climax of the race but the American was able to hold on to qualify for the final.
Team GB's Jack Green failed to complete the 400m after making contact with a hurdle in the early stages of the match.
