British teammates Mo Farah, Andy Vernon caught up in Twitter dispute

British 5,000m and 10,000m teammates Mo Farah and Andy Vernon clash during an hour-long exchange on social media site Twitter.

Mo Farah has labelled British teammate Andy Vernon an "embarrassment" during a lengthy Twitter spat between the pair this evening.

Vernon had initially criticised the lack of competition to face his fellow 5,000m and 10,000m runner at next weekend's Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham, saying: "Another stellar field against Mo Farah on home turf this weekend at Birmingham #joke."

Double Olympic gold medallist Farah hit back at these comments by suggesting that it was a "shame" Vernon had failed to make the cut for the event, before later adding: "You're an embarrassment!! Taylor swift can probably run faster than you!"

The exchange lasted for an hour.
