Mo Farah to make cross-country return

Double Olympic champion Mo Farah will make his first cross-country appearance in four years at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country in January.

Mo Farah has revealed that he will use January's Great Edinburgh Cross Country as a starting point for the 2015 season.

The double Olympic champion will return to cross country for the first time in four years as he prepares to defend his 5,000m and 10,000m world titles in Beijing in August.

The 31-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Next year will be an important year for me and I'm looking forward to returning to the Great Edinburgh Cross Country to kick off my season.

"For many years, I ran cross-country to build my base for the summer track season and it will be nice to return to Edinburgh to try to repeat my winning run of 2011 there."

Farah won two golds at the European Championships last summer but he was forced to miss the Commonwealth Games through injury.
