Lord Sebastian Coe, Sergei Bubka compete for IAAF presidency

The International Association of Athletics Federations announces that Lord Coe and Sergei Bubka have put themselves forward to become the new president of the governing body.

Lord Sebastian Coe and Sergei Bubka have been revealed as the only two candidates in the running to become the new president of the International Association of Athletics Federations.

Earlier this year, Lamine Diack, who has been president since 1999, announced his intention to step down from the position, leaving the door open for a new name to head the IAAF.

As expected, only Coe and Bubka have put themselves forward for the role, which will be decided at the IAAF Congress in Beijing on August 19.

While Coe has only entered for presidency, Bubka has also put himself forward for one of the vice-president seats with the governing body.
