Lawrence Clarke aiming to push Pascal Martinot-Lagarde

British 110m hurdler Lawrence Clarke reveals that he is excited to test himself against European indoor champion Pascal Martinot-Lagarde.

Lawrence Clarke has admitted that he is looking to build some momentum ahead of next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

After missing out on a medal at the European Indoors, Clarke will feature in the 110m hurdles at the European Team Championships on Sunday, and the British athlete is keen to impress against Frenchman Pascal Martinot-Lagarde.

The 25-year-old told BBC Gloucestershire: "I'm determined to run against him. I beat him in the European Junior Championships back in 2009 and ever since it has been a rivalry because we are all the same age. I want to get into that environment of the Olympics next year knowing I can beat them.

"Hopefully I can push him close this season, he has opened up the indoor season very quickly but we have different styles and hopefully I'll peak towards the later part of the season and he will stay where he is."

Clarke finished in fourth place at the 2012 Olympics in London.
