ParalympicsGB T44 100m gold medal winner Jonnie Peacock has insisted that David Weir should have been made a knight in the recent New Year Honours.
Weir, who picked up four gold medals at the London Payalympics to add to the two he achieved in Beijing, was awarded a CBE.
Peacock, however, said that Weir's achievements should have made him the recipient of a knighthood instead.
"They say it's because Weir won golds in two Games whereas Ben Ainslie won golds in four and Bradley Wiggins in three," the Mail on Sunday quotes Peacock as saying.
"But Chris Hoy was knighted after winning three golds in Beijing to add to one gold medal in Athens. That's four golds in two Games.
"David Weir has six golds in two Games. Frankly, his four alone at the greatest Paralympics of all-time in this country was enough to merit a knighthood."
Paralympian Sarah Storey became a dame.
