Athletics Kenya confirms that two of its runners have been banned for two years after failing drug tests.

Athletics Kenya has confirmed that two of its runners have been banned for two years after failing drug tests.

Viola Chelangat Kimetto and Joyce Jemutai Kiplimo have been punished after traces of norandrosterone, which is a metabolite of nandrolone, were found in their systems.

According to BBC News, Kimetto was tested positive for the banned substance at the Macau marathon in December 2013, while Kiplimo failed after being tested following the Yangzhou half-marathon back in April this year.

Around 40 Kenyan athletes have failed doping tests in the past two years and five more are said to be under investigation following the latest cases.
