Usain Bolt admits that the form of Yohan Blake opened his eyes to the task at hand as he claims gold with an Olympic record in the 100m final at London 2012.

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has admitted that the form of national sprint rival Yohan Blake sharpened his focus ahead of the Olympic Games.

Bolt clocked an Olympic record time of 9.63s to retain his 100m crown with a dominant performance in the London 2012 final.

Blake pushed his friend Bolt all the way and took a silver medal on his Olympic debut.

Bolt told BBC Radio 5 Live: "There was no point to prove, I came here to win. Yohan Blake opened my eyes in the trials, he told me to think about what was going on as it is Olympic year.

"I have got one foot in the door now. I have got the 200m to go and I really want to do something special in that. I am looking forward to it."

Bolt will have to contend with Blake once again as he looks to take his fourth individual Olympic gold later this week in the 200m.
