Mike Hooper: 'Glasgow 2014 best Commonwealth Games ever'

The chief executive of the Commonwealth Games Federation, Mike Hooper, says that Glasgow 2014 has been the "stand-out Games" in the history of the famous event.

The chief executive of the Commonwealth Games Federation has described Glasgow 2014 as the best ever edition.

The event officially concludes tonight with the closing ceremony at Hampden Park following 10 days of exciting action.

"These have been great Games and, in my view, the stand-out Games in the history of the movement," Mike Hooper is quoted as saying by The Express.

"We're delighted with the Glasgow Games and they're all very excited about the future of the movement going forward to Gold Coast and beyond.

"We've got 37 nations on the medal tally, one more than in Delhi, and that's a very good outcome for the Games movement. The spirit of these Games has continued to endure."

Australia's Gold Coast will host the Commonwealths in four years' time.
