Laura Weightman secures silver in 1,500m final

Laura Weightman claims silver in the 1,500m final as Kenya's Faith Kibiegon holds on for the victory.

Laura Weightman has secured silver in the 1,500m final with an impressive display only bettered by Kenya's Faith Kibiegon.

Hellen Obiri led with her teammate Kibiegon for a long spell of the race, but a late response from Weightman saw the English athlete challenge for the lead in the latter stages.

However, Kibiegon saved enough to hold off the competition on her way to gold in a time of 4:08.94.

Weightman was followed in her bid for a dramatic win by Kate van Buskirk, but the Canadian was forced to settle for the bronze medal.
