Sally Pearson eases to gold in 100m hurdles to deny England's Tiffany Porter

Sally Pearson holds off the challenge from England's Tiffany Porter to successfully defend her 100m hurdles title at the Commonwealth Games.

Australia's Sally Pearson produced a faultless display to defend her 100m hurdles title and deny Tiffany Porter glory at the Commonwealth Games.

The 27-year-old came into the final looking to ignore the controversy which surrounded her following Athletics Australia's decision to send home head coach Eric Hollingsworth for his criticism of the Olympic champion.

England's Porter closed the gap on Pearson midway through the race to increase hopes of a shock result, but Pearson pulled away in the closing stages to win in a time of 12.67s.

Angela Whyte of Canada held her nerve to claim the bronze medal, with Jamaica's Danielle Williams being forced to settle four a fourth-place finish.
