Former striker Darren Bent says that Aston Villa should try to sign Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic during the January transfer window.

Darren Bent has claimed that Aston Villa should attempt to sign Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic in January.

The Serbia international has enjoyed a hugely successful period at Craven Cottage since January 2018, with 35 goals coming from 75 appearances in all competitions.

However, with the 25-year-old currently plying his trade in the Championship, Bent feels that one of his former clubs should try to hand the frontman a return to the Premier League.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Bent said: "Come January, Mitrovic might be gone. I can see a few Premier League teams taking an interest, like Aston Villa whose centre forwards aren't scoring many goals.

"These teams should look at him because he's too good for the Championship. He's a big, strong powerful target man who scores goals when given the service."

Mitrovic still has over four-and-a-half years left on his contract at Fulham.
