Robert Griffin III fined £6,500

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is hit with a £6,500 fine for wearing a T-shirt that said "Operation Patience".

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been handed a £6,500 fine by the NFL for an apparel violation.

RG III was given the fine following the pre-season game against the Pittsburgh Steelers because he wore an unauthorised T-shirt in the warm-up.

The player was seen wearing a shirt with the words "Operation Patience", in reference to the waiting game that the Skins have used to get him back to fitness.

Griffin, a rookie last year, was injured in the post-season but is expected to return for the opening game in 2013.
