Washington Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo says that he feels ready to play after sustaining a pectoral tear early in the 2012 season.

Brian Orakpo has said that he is feeling "great" as he prepares for the 2013 NFL season with the Washington Redskins.

The linebacker missed the majority of the 2012 campaign after sustaining a pectoral tear while facing the St Louis Rams last September.

The 26-year-old told CSN Washington: "My shoulder is feeling great. I'm ready to go. I can't even say how much better I feel this year from where I was at this point last year.

"[My teammates] are really in shape and weren't just sitting around doing nothing this off-season. There's a sense of camaraderie. Guys are coming in and working extremely hard. That really means a lot in terms of getting over that hump and taking it to the next level."

The Redskins made the playoffs for the first time since 2007 last year.
