Sean McVay: 'I'll be coaching the quarterbacks'

Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay reveals that he will be coaching players rather than calling the plays for his side next season.

Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay has revealed that he will coach up his players rather than call the plays on gameday.

McVay was part of the Redskins' coaching re-shuffle in the off-season as Jay Gruden was appointed as head coach to replace Mike Shanahan following their 3-13 season, and was promoted to his new role from tight ends coach in the last campaign.

The 27-year-old revealed that Gruden will call the plays during the game, while McVay will train quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins.

McVay told ESPN: "It'll be one of those deals where I help Jay wherever I need to fill in. I'll coach quarterbacks this year too. Jay will be the offensive coordinator and call the plays.

"But my job is to help as much as I can to implement the game plan. How involved I'll be as far as install, we haven't decided that yet. I want to give a bunch of ideas as if I'm putting the game plan together."

McVay has been with the Redskins since the 2010 season.
