Jay Gruden keeps faith in Robert Griffin III

Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden insists that he is pleased with quarterback Robert Griffin III's progress so far.

Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden has insisted that Robert Griffin III remains the starting quarterback and he hopes that he will continue to improve between now and the end of the season.

Griffin III returned to the starting lineup in Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but Gruden concedes that he must continue to prove that he is the franchise's starting quarterback.

"We get a look at Kirk [Cousins]. We get a good look at Colt [McCoy] and now it's back to Robert. So, the jury is still out on that position. But we feel good about Robert's progress so far," Gruden said, according to CSN Washington.

"We've just got to continue to build and see how [RG III] does from week-to-week-to-week and hopefully we can see that here at the end of the season."

The Redskins are 3-6 for the season, and they sit bottom of the NFC East ahead of their bye week before facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
