Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins has declared that the team want to win their final home game of the season so that veteran linebacker London Fletcher can go out on top.
Fletcher revealed earlier this week that he was likely to retire from playing at the end of the campaign after 16 years in the NFL.
With that in mind, Cousins insisted that the Redskins will do all they can to ensure Fletcher's finale will be a successful and memorable one when they face the Dallas Cowboys this weekend.
Cousins told reporters: "We would love to have him walk off that field for the last time, if it will be his last time, with a victory.
"We all respect and admire London, and he's a great leader in our locker room and has shown all of us what it means to conduct ourselves like a professional on and off the field. I think it would mean a lot to London to get a win, but I think it would mean a lot to us as his teammates to send him off with the win."
Before signing with the Redskins, Fletcher had spells with the Buffalo Bills and the St Louis Rams, with whom he twice appeared in the Super Bowl.
