Tampa Bay Buccaneers to sign Evan Dietrich-Smith

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers agree a deal to sign former Green Bay Packers centre Evan Dietrich-Smith.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed a deal to sign former Green Bay Packers centre Evan Dietrich-Smith.

Dietrich-Smith is coming off the back of his first full season as a starting centre since joining the Packers as an undrafted rookie in 2009.

The 27-year-old is expected to become the Bucs' first-choice centre next season, meaning that Jeremy Zuttah is likely to either be released or moved to guard.

Tampa Bay have been busy in the opening week of free agency, with Dietrich-Smith being their seventh addition since the market opened on Tuesday.

The team's offensive line has seen a major overhaul as he joins left tackle Anthony Collins as a new addition, while veterans Donald Penn and David Joseph have been released.

Dietrich-Smith had a brief spell with the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 before rejoining the Packers in time for their Super Bowl XLV triumph over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
