San Diego Chargers linebacker Manti Te'o has said that his injured foot is "getting better".
The rookie picked up a sprain during the team's 31-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week, which was his first game as an NFL player.
The 22-year-old told reporters: "It feels better. It's getting better. [It happened] during the game. I just stepped a little wrong. When you're in the middle of the game you don't really think about what's going on.
"It was just a weird feeling. I just went to go get it checked, and they said just rest. They'll let me know when I'm ready.
"Even though I'm physically not doing anything, I'm getting my mental reps, standing behind the end zone behind the defense and getting my keys, going through what I'd be going through if I was in practice so that I don't lose a step. So that's what I'm focusing on right now."
It was confirmed at the weekend that the injury would keep Te'o off the field for a week.
