Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has issued an apology to his teammates for criticising San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree following his side's NFC championship win.
Sherman was interviewed immediately after the game and went on a tirade after making the play of the match to tip a pass intended for Crabtree in the endzone, which was then intercepted by Malcolm Smith to win his side the game.
He told ESPN: "I apologise for attacking an individual and taking the attention away from the fantastic game by my teammates. That was not my intent."
The Seahawks will play in the Super Bowl for the second time in their history when they take on the Denver Broncos in two weeks' time.
