Seattle Seahawks' Marshawn Lynch considered NFL retirement

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch reveals that he was mulling retiring from the game during the off-season until the club offered him an improved contract.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has admitted that he considered retiring from the NFL during the off-season.

Reports suggested that the 29-year-old could call time on his career, but the NFC West side handed him an improved contract to ensure his stay at the club.

"I mean, you know, in this game, you know, at this running back position, you don't go that long," Lynch said on the Conan O'Brien Show.

"But, I mean, they put 12 in front of you for a year you start to think like 'Yeah, maybe I can do this again.'"

Lynch has rushed for 8,695 yards and 71 touchdowns in his eight-year NFL career.
