The San Francisco 49ers are poised to release veteran cornerback Carlos Rogers, according to a report.
The 32-year-old was an integral part of Jim Harbaugh's side in the 2011 and 2012 seasons, but injuries and the form of Tramaine Brock and Tarell Brown diminished his role in 2013.
Due to his high salary cap number and his advancing years, the 49ers will release Rogers before the new league year begins on Tuesday, reports ESPN.
Rogers recorded 47 tackles and two interceptions in the 2013 season.
