Jim Harbaugh unveiled as Michigan coach

Former San Francisco 49ers coach John Harbaugh reveals that it is "an honour" to coach Michigan after he was officially introduced on Tuesday.

Former San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh has been officially introduced to the media as the new coach of Michigan.

Two days after leaving his role as head coach of the 49ers, Harbaugh confirmed his new position having signed a seven-year deal worth $5m (£3.2m) per year, the same salary he received with the Niners.

"Throughout my life, I have dreamed of coaching at the University of Michigan," Harbaugh said in a statement.

"Now I have the honour to live it."

Harbaugh took San Francisco to three straight NFC championship games and lost the 2013 Super Bowl to the Baltimore Ravens, who were coached by his brother, John.

However, the 49ers slipped to 8-8 this season and they missed out on the playoffs and so the two parties made a mutual decision to part ways on Sunday.
