BJ Daniels: 'Earning place on San Francisco 49ers roster was tough'

San Francisco 49ers quarterback BJ Daniels says that is was tough to earn his place on the team's 53-man roster.

BJ Daniels has said that competing for a place on the San Francisco 49ers roster was "tough".

The 23-year-old rookie is one of three quarterbacks to have been named on the NFC West side's 53-man active roster.

The seventh-round draft pick told the team's official website: "Coming in, it was a whirlwind, trying to learn a million different things. Coming in at first and having to compete at a position that I have never played against guys that have been playing it all their lives, that was tough.

"Once I started getting more reps at quarterback, I was able to be comfortable and do what I do, read defenses, deliver the ball and try to do whatever I can to help move the chains.

"Once I got a hold of the playbook, mostly just the things I've done all myself being natural at the position. I'm just glad I had opportunity to show the abilities that I have been blessed with."

Daniels started training camp working with the wide receivers and running backs, before featuring as a passer for the 49ers during their pre-season games.
