Stevie Johnson signs three-year Chargers deal

The San Diego Chargers confirm that they have agreed a three-year contract with wide receiver Stevie Johnson following his release by the San Francisco 49ers.

The San Diego Chargers have announced that they have signed wide receiver Stevie Johnson.

The 28-year-old was released by the San Francisco 49ers after just one season at the club, where he failed to make a lasting impression on the NFC West side's offense.

Johnson was reportedly pursued by the Chargers and the New England Patriots, but has agreed to join Mike McCoy's men on a three-year contract worth up to $12m (£8.1m).

The receiver has recorded 336 receptions for 4,627 yards and 31 touchdowns in his seven years in the NFL.
