Brett Keisel and LaMarr Woodley have both said they are optimistic that they will play against the Detroit Lions this weekend.
The defensive duo have missed the last three days of practice, resulting in Keisel being listed as questionable for the game, while Woodley is down as doubtful on the team's injury report.
The linebacker, who has a calf complaint, told the team's website: "I have a great shot. Two days left. I'm the only one who really knows how my calf is feeling, if I'm able to go, if I'm going to be out there helping the team or hurting the team. It's definitely going to be my decision if I can go or not."
Keisel, who injured his foot last week, added: "I think I'm gonna go. It gets better every day, so Sunday it should feel good. It's a big one against a very good team. The second half [of the season] started right. We want to keep that momentum going."
The Steelers are currently bottom in the AFC North with a 3-6 record.
