Report: Philadelphia Eagles ready to cut DeSean Jackson

The Philadelphia Eagles are ready to release wide receiver DeSean Jackson due to his high salary cap number, according to a report.

The Philadelphia Eagles are poised to cut wide receiver DeSean Jackson, according to a report.

Jackson will earn $10m (£6m) over the next three years of his contract with the Eagles, and the club are unwilling to pay him that amount and are prepared to release the 27-year-old if they cannot trade him.

Several clubs are said to be interested in Jackson including the New York Jets, the New England Patriots and the San Francisco 49ers.

"Philly is trading him or cutting him," a source told the New York Daily News. "That's a fact. They don't want him."

Jackson recorded 82 receptions for 1,332 yards along with nine touchdowns last season.
